It’s great. I have curly hair that doesn’t work well with gel or wax, so I’ve been flat ironing my hair for a few years now so I do the popular styles. Out of over 20 flat irons I’ve used, my Solia is still my favorite.
It’s like it takes all the stress out of your hair and lets it just fall flat and relaxed – it also never burnt my hair.
I don’t use it anymore though, because now I’ve got a more conservative short hairstyle that is kind of spiked up, and the Solia made it to limp to do that so I have to use a cheaper, more damaging iron to get the look I need.
For women though, the Solia is always going to be great since you all wear long hair and the whole goal is to get your hair to just lay down limp and stop frizzing up.
** The Solia didn’t cause a lot of steam, but that’s really more based on what product you’re using in your hair. Steam is usually the product burning, and can be good or bad depending on how that product is designed to work. Personally, I like and still use Frizz-Ease Heat Protect Serum, not much steam (Which is good for me, since I have short hair and the steam would burn my scalp) and it keeps my hair straight until the next time I wash it.
It is very good. I used to have one but traded it in for a Sedu iron. I would recommend the Solia to anyone who wants to be able to do curly, straight, and wavy styles with their iron.
It is excellent, but I would go with Sedu.
Don’t let anyone talk you into CHI.
As a stylist, I have used a lot of flat irons/hair straighteners, including Sedu, Hai, Infrashine, Chi, Paul Mitchell, Solia, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss Ghd, T3, Kenta etc. You should get a Professional hair straightener, they style much better and faster, and most importantly, they protect your hair.
In terms of performance:
The best ones are: Sedu, Kenta, Solia, Infrashine, Ghd. These are top of the line professional brands
Above average: Chi, Hai, Paul Mitchell,
Average: T3, Big Sexy, Andis, Babyliss
Below Average: Conair, Vidal Sassoon, Revlon, Bed Head etc. These are cheap consumer brands that you will find in drugstore. If you care about your hair, do NOT buy them.
